While most academics value recieving feedback on thru teaching from studemts there is considerable concern about the use of standard evaluation questionnaires both at national (NSS) and local levels.
The general concern is about their reliability and validity. These concerns have led to some universities stopping their use, for example the university of Oregon.
There are specific concerns about gender, and other differences in their results.
In 2018 the National Union of Students organised a boycott of the NSS, as part of its campaign about TEF being used to justify increases in fees, although that policy was dropped after being rejected by the House of Lords.
